Dear all,

Yesterday evening we held yet another exciting cafe at Jose's place in
Nalya. Many of our brothers and sisters turned up to the meeting which
focused on lifestyles non-communicable diseases - diseases that penetrate
slowly unnoticed and yet of a chronic nature!

Dr. Worodria gave a historical perspective to how these sicknesses have
affected human life and the changing environment in which we live, and later
addressed their nature, how they affect the human body and eventually
destroy organs. Some highlights were actually interesting;

1. We live longer, and hence the emergence of these diseases

2. We have increased processed foods and increased purchasing capacity

These developments have come along with negative issues as well including
Hypertension, Diabetes, Cancer, Gout etc.

The use of social communion for knowledge sharing has proved to be quite
successful in many parts around the world and even informally in Uganda -
many times conflict in family among others were solved around the "Ajon" -
many call it Malwa

The Science cafe is a unique knowledge sharing forum that tackles various
topics within the sphere of human development. It will in addition to
natural sciences focus on other topical issues and the next discussion will
focus on Estate Management our brothers in the legal fraternity will
probably take lead here.

We also hope to broadcast through radio if a good agreement is reached with
the radio's in the region.

A small committee will coordinative the Kampala activities, the adhoc
committee set up will include;

Joseph Dramadri

Paul Lobe

Okuti Boroa

Kivumbi Kikonyogo

Patrice Mawa

Christine Munduru &

Anthony Ajiku

A summary of the discussion will be shared during the week - enjoy your
Sunday, and lets embrace yet another West Nile Forum activity.

Thanks to Patrice & Christine, Dr. Worodria, Jose and all participants. Lets
share knowledge for development of our region.

Regards

Richard
