Members, If we could delve alittle into these accidents as a point of concern. Over lunch today, some of our own experiences seem to point to the fact that many times the drivers and the turn men working in these buses dont have enough rest before they make a return journey besides the unwarranted competion that is normally displayed by some drivers. Hypothetically, I would like to think that even as the festive seasons approach, the pressure to beat the demand increases on the bus companies and to make more money on the drivers. Its critical to note that it is usually the drivers who bear the burden of the stress leading to some of these unfortunate accidents.
Even without sounding too policing, I am sure some members are within "a chat reach" with some of the proprietors of these bus companies. Sharing with them such fears would go a long way in saving lives and even saving the companies such colosial loses that could be avoided. As the year end gets busier with electioneering and the festive seasons, we should avoid as much as we can the loss of lives by all the means that we can.
