Dear Members, With hardly 4 days to the next West Nile theme night at club Palui, the ever haunting question hovers over my head again. How can we use our social settings to build our community better? Quite a number of thoughts that many have been shared before but in my opinion should also feature in the discussions as we wonder about the development of our region. This is bourne from the fact that we know names in the cybernet and in other circles, but in many instances cannot put the names to a face. Well even if we selectively did that in Club Palui, there is a very important part of each of our lives that is automatically disqualified from being part of a setting such as club Palui; our spouses (of course not all), our children and our elderly relatives. I am not in any way insinuating anything on Club Palui, but the fact be known and said, we need to be able to socialise not only as a mens club but as a family unit.
What would it cost members of the Net or regulars of Club Palui to set aside a day (saturday or Sunday) and agree to convene with their families and spouses for a family day out starting at whatever convinient time of the day and ending early enough for the young ones to reach home? This doesnt have to be in Club Palui, it could be in Kyadondo rugby club for instance and all arrangements can be made to ensure that everyones interest in cartered for. Besides, this could be at a time when school going children are for holidays to ensure that we get to know who is who in a familial setting. Am sure, this will create an environment for a more sorber discussion on a number of topical issues as the children play. I know that children learn more by observing, how else would they know the value of a united community but to see it in their father, mother, auntie, uncle or brother/sister? Just thinking.... Sam
