Dear friends, Less than six months ago, KK bus killed 21 people and left more injured with severe injuries. Now Gaga bus has killed 17 more. A month ago 14 people died in Metu in another accident. In 2010, there more accidents where passengers were seriously injured including more deaths. When will these reckless killings stop?
Ladies and gentlemen, if buses or lorries kill over 100 people per year, do we really see a problem? What can we do as a community to control the rate of these accidents? As consumers, if we do nothing, these accidents will only continue year after year. I think there is serious need to dialogue with bus operators. Although they are providing a service to the public, on the other hand, they must ensure high standard of public safety. A lot of sources of accidents coulld be avoided: - Over speeding - Drinking & Driving - Lack of training and regard for public safety - Illegal driving without proper licensing - Reckless and defensive driving I think there is urgent need to address these problems or else we shall continue to see more deaths; innevitably including us when we travel up country. Although no one plans for accidents to happen, many could be avoided by careful driving.
