My dear Brothers and Sisters of West Nile,

I am a bit impressed by what I have lately, read about wonderful
developments beginning to take place in our region. First, I want to thank
and congratulate the group that assembled the Science Cafe and put it into
the cyber world. In particular regard, I thank the protagonist-Mrs Christine
Munduru and the technician, Fr Stephen Ogua, who built the website. May God
bless you for this wonderful work. Indeed, time has come for all to be
counted. It is not right for us to be at the receiving end, I mean, we
shouldn't only read about other people but they should also know and find
who are and what we do and are capable of doing.
Secondly, about the plans to build Arua Airport into an International
Terminal, it is long over due were it not for dirty politics. But we have a
reason to smile (or not yet), perhaps to push for more. It would have been
better to build a huge International Airport with a capacity to accommodate
at least 100,000 passengers than a small thing of 200 people. The question I
always ask myself is why should Uganda or West Nile be satisfied with a bare
minimum as though the world were shrinking? Are we excluded from dreaming of
big things?
Anyhow, that is not the issue, I still want to draw our attention back to
the idea of ELECTRICITY. All these development will be accelerated if there
is electricity (we must understand why people refer to it as POWER). Without
this how does an International Airport operate let alone many other
development activities in our area? I think, all these demands must go side
by side. At this stage I would demand for POWER before the Airport. It
doesn't, however, mean that we don't need it now, we do but as I said,
electricity will help other sectors of the economy in our area, think about
businesses, schools, factories, etc. That is all I wanted to submit.

To all Christian brothers and sisters, I wish you a fruitful Lenten
(fasting) season! To the Muslim brothers and sisters and others I wish you
God's blessings!

Andrua
