Dear Akua S. Lulua,

According to me it is completely out of place to change or feel embarrassed
about using the name of the location where our ancestors lived and where our
ethnic groups have settled, for any Association, Organization or Institute,
just because some foreigners came around and claimed the same name for a
"virus". Our location existed from time immemorial and its being has nothing
to do with the name of a "virus" given by chance.

The name "Arua Net Digest" is not all-inclusive! Even if it were, supposing
tomorrow another virus will be called "Arua", again should we change the
name of our place?

Human words are a cultivated fruit of reflection on structures and codes
which point to cultural processes, analogy, metaphor, as well as signs and
symbols they refer to. We need to examine both the connotative and
denotative expressions that can enhance our existential reality to stand
out.

All in all, signification or meaning comes before communication. Therefore,
let us build on essentials and not on accidents.

Steve
