This is a worth while thought Charles, picking from the extract below and as a
community we should be obliged to render a supporting hand, and important to
note at this point in time is that every contribution; spiritual, physical,
financial and otherwise is a critical intervention.

''Friends -- Dr. Atiku's case is one of these situations where we should come
together and help especially when we know that "arming" Dr. Atiku will not only
help him in his new life, but also enable him to return to the business of
taking care of our sick and dying relatives back in Arua hospital''.

My humble contribution is at hand, should a volunteer coordinator be available.

Dear Dr. Atiku,

We will continue to pray for you to get better - emotionally, physically and
psychologically. West Nile Members have come together from time to time to help
others financially for medical and other reasons. I know that every month
people get together to raise funds for weddings etc. I was blown away I watched
the video of a wedding that took place in Arua sometime last year or was it
2010 - where the people literally raised ienough money to build the young
couple a new permanment house and fully furnish it at the same time.

Friends -- Dr. Atiku's case is one of these situations where we should come
together and help especially when we know that "arming" Dr. Atiku will not only
help him in his new life, but also enable him to return to the business of
taking care of our sick and dying relatives back in Arua hospital.

In well organized societies we would not have to worry about "arming" the good
Doctor ourselves; the insurance funds would have covered all the medicall
expenses including the artificial arm.

Could we ask one person based in Uganda to volunteer to coordinate Project
"Arm" Dr. Isaac Atiku? You can see from his message below that an artificial
arm could range anywhere from $3,300 US to $30,000. Although Dr. Atiku, has
given his account number for any contributions -- and I encourage any one to
contribute directly to him through western union, bank transfers or in person.
It would be nice to see that we could get together and contribute to project
"Arm" Dr Atiku separately and them give his the funds as a lumpsum. Could I
suggest that Project "Arm Dr. Atiku starts March 1, 2012 and ends June 30, 2012?

Could a journalist volunteer to write up the story of Dr. Atiku ( Who he is,
what happened, when, where, the sort of help he requires, plan to go back to
work as soon as he is healed, challenges of getting insurance to cater for
motor vehicle accident injuries in Uganda etc etc.

Any comments? Suggestions?

NEEDED : A Volunteer (s) to take on the project and Journalist to write up
story that we can share with Diasporeans.

May you all be richly blessed.

Dear Charles,

Thank you for the encouragement and prayers. I am certainly the very Atiku you
knew. I am getting out of danger, but I may need prosthesis (Artificial arm).
My friends are trying to raise funds for the purchase of one which they
estimate in the range of $3000 to $30000. I am appealing for support from you
and if could sell the the idea to some of your friends in the diaspora as well
as the westnile net. The money can be received through Western Union or direct
tranfer to my bank account. Bank: Housing finance, Branch: Arua, Account
title: ATIKU ISAAC OPIKA and account number: 0120136030800

Dear Dr. Atiku,

I am very saddened to learn of the terrible accident which led to your losing
an arm. When I read the message, I was not certain whether you are teh same
person I knew in St Charles Lwanga Koboko in 1977 until Akonyu Akolo confirmed
that you are indeed the one. I was in  S3 when you and Akonyu where in S1 but
we all played football together at the bottom of the top field near the
teachers quarters.

I have ben to Uganda a number of times but never met you; have met Sylvester
Onzivua and many other OBs over the last 20 years. However, in 1990 I met your
younger brother who was working as a military intellence officer in Arua. I had
gone to Uganda. I was unceremoniously arested by the NRA then at kept in
Giligili for a month. I remember when I met your brother, I just knew he was
your brother because he resembled you KO'BO!! Even after not seeing you since
Sept 1980, meeting your brother just brought back your image..

Anyhow, all I want say is to convey my hearfelt and sincere wishes for recovery
knowing very well that it will be a different kind of life for you. But God has
a reason for everything that is why the accident turned out the way it did
otherwise it could have been a different result! We pray for smooth transition
into your new life and understanding from family members, relatives and
friends in the years to come.

God bless and hopefully we will see each other when next I travel to Uganda.

Sincerely,
