I am really humbled by Adiga's recollections below of the Late Gen Mustafa
Adirisi's life. Last weekend's Daily Monitor carried another very touching
piece on when he ordered the release of Makerere students from Makindye
Military Police cells. He ordered the Commandant of the detachment that he
wanted the students at Makerere present during his address at Makerere
University which was to come after he leaves Makindye...the Commander followed
his order and ensured the students arrived at Makerere before the Gen arrived-I
imagine the commander had to deliver the students immediately to Makerere at
breakneck and terrific speed to make sure they arrived before Gen.Mustapha at
Makerere ! I understand Olara Otunnu, the then Guild President was among those
released.Gen. Mustafa was a very kind and humble man and he made his
contribution to his country that shall be remembered and has been recorded in
history. I am not sure what would have happened to these
students in military cells without Gen.Mustafa's timely intervention ! May
the Late Gen's. soul rest in eternal piece and comfort Uganda and his family at
this loss.

Indeed the passing of a humble distinguished elder and
 pillar of wisdom.
Even in his later years of retirement, he interacted freely
 with the simple
folks in Arua, and did his part in the elders' peace
 efforts. Sadly we are
slowly losing our granaries of history & wisdom. May he
 RIP.
