Dear Caleb,

Please update us on the progress of the petition to the Minister to
include West Nile on the National Grid. Our hons MPS need some weight
behind them if they are to succeed in amending the decision that
excluded WN from being connected. Please get signatures from the
various CSOs and NGOs in WN. They can send letters that you can append
to the petition.

This issue should be kept alive before serious work begins on the Karuma dam.

I don't know whether there are any economists from west nile in
makerere but I beleive if they were, they should have done research on
the loss to the national GDP with the near century neglect of west
Nile region in the economy of Uganda. With peace in the now
independent South Sudan as well as in the DRC, improving
infrasturcture in WN (Roads, electricity, upgrading Arua airport etc
ect) will more than quadrupple the returns to the national GDP ( and
am just making a conservative educated guess).

In terms of Arua airport for example -- let us look at the silliness
of the whole situation. How can someone flying to Juba from West Nile
-- say Maracha, Yumbe or Moyo have to travel to Entebbe for a whole
day to fly from there?

If people can travel freely between the Uganda/South Sudan or
Uganda/DRC, why shouldn't planes be allowed to fly directly to and
from Arua, Koboko and Adjumani Airfields to Yei, Juba and and other
locations????

Ladies and gentlemen, our MPs will not push when we the people who
voted them in are sleeping and going to them asking for soap, salt
and "pitila".

Ok here ends my ranting....
