I like Milton Anguyo's positing on MP Anite's the now famous suggestion that M7 be the sole NRM candidate for 2016 elections. My take on it is this: (i) Anite is one of those people who promote lawlessness in Uganda. For, the NRM constitution stipulates competition for those willing to participate in leadership. So in skipping that procedure she breached the law and therefore has to be put to scrutiny by observers and law-abiding/law-loving citizens of Uganda. (ii) Anite, in suggesting that M7 be the sole NRM candidate, acted emotionally -as Milton rightly put, because of her opportunistic calculation-to put it plainly - because of her self-aggrandising (selfish) interest. (iii) Owing to that egoistic interest, Anite's proposal was devoid of sense of judgement and prudence. How? she did not reflect deeply on the wider impact of her suggestion. She did not think about her constituents nor did she think about the wider wellbeing of Ugandans as a whole. (iv) What MP Anite did reveals mediocrity in perspective, a dangerous attribute of a leader at the level of a member of parliament. (v) Last but not least, Anite is a microcosm of what many a Ugandan MP of today can best be described- a selfish individual who uses the vast masses to achieve his/her own selfish interests. (vi) Finally, although she has her rights to express herself, she but embodies the aspirations not of herself but of other people. Therefore, as a person who comes from our area, I am ashamed of her and what she did. What she did in was detestable. I for one would never give my vote to such a person in any elections. 28 years of personal and family rule (of M7, his family, relatives & NRM) is intolerable and unforgiveable. Too much ambition and self-interest without considering others is not a good quality of a leader.
