Sure; we can do that.  But then again, most Windows users download
binaries anyway, so Heiko can do that in his version as well.

Out-of-the-box compilation and operation is mostly important for Unix.
IMHO.

Having said that, if you have a patch that fixes (works around) this
problem on Windows, feel free to apply it to the 1.8.2 branch.
