I have the certificate bundle.
It came with curl.
I am still not clear on how to add it to openssl.
I tried pasting the relevant block into a file
and taking the hash with openssl and making a symbolic
link with that hash in the form like the others (${hash}.0).
However, it still gives the same error message.

I had also tried the ca_certificate option in wget and
pointing it to the curl cert file. That didn't affect anything.
~>wget --ca-certificate=/usr/share/curl/curl-ca-bundle.crt
'https://members.dyndns.org/nic/update'

The .crt file appears to be the one that you are referring to.

Does the command work for you without the extra parameters?

Nice signature: "unix is cool".
