That's probably it, then; the service is running an SNMP server, then
when you run the desktop app, it tries to start an SNMP server too, but
cannot.
Assuming this is all on one box. :-)

Are you running whatsup as a service, and then also running it as a
desktop app?

I've tried services. No luck. I thought there may have been another
way to
turn it off.
The trap server works but I continually get the same error mesg.

Look in your services panel for 'SNMP Trap Server,' assuming Windows
2000.

I had trouble with the Trap server binding and it turned out that I had
the
SNMP client part of Microsoft Networking running which also binds to
that
port. As soon as I took that part out, it bound up fine.

Subject: [WhatsUp Forum] SNMP Trap server bind error 10048(162)
I am getting SNMP TRAP SERVER BIND ERROR 10048 (162) IN
THE SNMP TRAP LOG. I am also getting "SNMP TRAP SERVER IS RUNNING".
This
prevents me from getting some of the notifications. I tried to find out
whether another service was sharing the port 162 with whatsup. But I
could
not figure out. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Jules
