Here are a few ways to do it. You could:
1. Use SNMP traps and get notified when the interface goes down.
2. Use the SNMP threshold to monitor it. Must be MIB savvy.
3. Put a Yahoo! icon in your map and poll it. No yahoo, No internet.
I like #3 the best!

I have had almost no trouble with my T1 line but this morning my provider
connection so my alerts all fired. My server wasn't down and my router
wasn't down but of course there was still no internet connection. I don't
see off hand how to make a dependency work for this and was wondering how
(or if) others might do this?
