Jeremy,
I finally got a Multitech Multimodem ZDX to work on my system with
WUG. Now I am having a different problem....If I use their prerecorded WAVs
I have no problem. When I record my own, it won't play them. Any ideas
why? They play fine when you click on them, but when alerts go off and it
calls, it says press one for message, I press one and it hangs up and I get
a message on WUG that the message failed, and it keeps calling over and
over.
I did decide at one point to just use the prerecorded, but I can't
figure out how to identify each host. Everytime it calls it says " A
HOST.....is down" I can't figure out where it is associating the "a Host "
message to that particular device. I recorded the names of all my devices
and would like to replace "A host" but I can't figure out how to associate
each WAV with a device. Any Ideas on that one?
TIA,
Eric

Eric
We have used this modem tirelessly for a year with no faults.
U.S. Robotics 56K Voice Internal PCI.
After install WUP will recognise the fact and display the voice tab as an
option available in the Notifications Editor.
We use it as a first line. ie just a call, details follow in sms/email.
This covers you if your networks fail badly..like your mailservers..don't
get caught with that old chestnut.

Les,
We did think of that, but we had very bad cell phone service and
e-mail would never work consistently. Yesterday, we switched to a new
service. Hopefully this one is a little more reliable, and we will be able
to try that option.
Thanks,
Eric

Hi Eric,
Have you thought of using SMS instead of plain voice. If your cell
phones are GSM then its available if you have a SMS post box at your Cell
phone service provider. You then simply send an Email containing the SMS.
We use that method and find it more successful than voice.

I am currently evaluating What's up Gold. I need to set up voice
notification, as we all use cell phones here. The problem that I am running
into is that I can not find a voice modem that works with the application.
I recently attempted a Hayes Optima 56K Business modem with voice/fax/data
with no luck. I have talked with Ipswitch Tech Support and they told me
that they have tested it with two modems, US Robotics Sportster Voice 33.6
Faxmodem with Personal Voice Mail" and with the "Diamond 3500" voice modem.
Both of these modems have been discontinued. Does anyone have Voice
Notification up and running using a different voice modem? Any suggestions
would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Eric Dami
