Yes there is a Cache, the object gallery (the Custom Device Types area in edit mode)
images are cached. If you make changes to the icon it will not update in the gallery
even though it appears correctly when you drag one out. If you restart WUG this
cache will update and the Custom Device Types will be the 'latest' images.
When you examine the device properties, general category does the image in the top
right of the dialog show the customized or standard router icon? (this one is not
cached and should be the customized version associated with this device type).
(btw There are no registry entries you have clobbered for icon customizations)
The only thing I can imagine is happening is that your emf files are either locked or
read only. VDevice manages DSE files and exports an EMF file for WUG to use.
(DSEs are editable, EMFs are just snapshots). Try this: delete your custom emf file,
open VDevice with your custom dse file and resave (this will recreate your emf
file).
One thing I have noticed in exploring this is that if you modify your device via the
menu "Configure | Device Types" then VDevice has no trouble updating the EMF
file, however if you right click on a device in the object gallery and select "Edit"
then
VDevice will warn you that it could not update the EMF file because WUG still
has it locked.
