To all: I would like to test the state of SMTP service on a system by attempting to open a telnet session to port 25 on that system rather than using the standard WUG SMTP monitor. I suspect this should be a straight-forward task, yet I have no idea how to start this process.
The standard telnet syntax is "telnet mydomain.com 25" or "telnet IPAddress 25." If there is a mail server operational, then a reply is generated. So now, what's the trick to get WUG to use this method? I can use either WUG 6.02 or WUG 7.0. Thank you, Brad Dinerman ______________________________________ Bradley J.
