You are experiencing a common issue with WUG. What has happened basically
is that the WUG service and the WUG interface (GUI, application, whatever
you want to call it) have gotten out of synch with one another.

This issue has been addressed in version 7.01:

- The WhatsUp Gold Console Application will no longer run if
WhatsUp Gold is detected as already running as a service.
Stop the service before running WhatsUp Gold as a console
  application.

Until 7.01 is released, the best thing to do is to stop the service, make
your changnes in the console, save your changes, then, once you are finished
with all changes, restart the service.
