We use KILL command on W2K machines all the time. It is found on the old
NT Resource Kit.

Just find the Process ID from Task Manager and type this at a DOS prompt;

KILL "process ID"

If I am reading correctly, and the reason you are rebooting is to stop a
program that task manager won't let you stop...

I'm not sure about Win2K, but NT 4.0 has a Kill.exe in the resource kit.
It
is a nice alternative to rebooting in cases like these.

Ah, yes, sorry that I didn't mention anything about that before. If you
end
up with 2 instances of whatsupg.exe in memory, and can only get 1 closed
(or
end task on it), then yes, the only way to resolve that is to reboot.

Just check your task manager - if the WUG service is stopped, and the WUG
application is closed down, and you still see whatsupg.exe in your
processes, usually the only way to get rid of that is to reboot.

Sorry I left out that tidbit earlier.
