I am having this problem only when WUG is ran as a service. And its not for
every subnet. There some that report correctly, nothing I have tried so far has
worked, short of deleting the "trouble" maps and building from scratch.
Suggestions welcome.

I'm also having the same problem with v7 running as an application.

My subnets don't even indicate that they are being monitored. They are
always gray.

If I hover over them the status bar says that they aren't loaded and are not
being checked. If I select the Load Subnet option on the right-click it has
no affect.

Any suggestions?

I assume that you only see this problem when WUG is running as a service?
And you do not see it when running WUG as a console application?

btw - if you are running WUG6.0 you can find a free upgrade to WUG6.02
on the ipswitch web site support patches and upgrades section.
