There is some logic in the installation program that will detect if you have made any changes to your templates
and prompt you if you want to keep your new templates or replace them during installation upgrade.
Also, when you install WhatsUp gold, a backup copy of the templates are installed into \Web\WebTemplates
just in case you make a boo boo and need to revert back to a set of templates

Thanks Gary!  My only worry now is .... will the .asp page ever be re-generated such that whatever I may edit locally to it might be lost?

Thanks again,
Craig

With WhatsUp Gold 7 you can directly add your link(s) to the web pages.  Start with MainPageSuffix.asp and go from there.  You should also be able to add/change things for StandardPageFooter.asp.

For WhatsUp Gold 6 and before, please refer to KB article http://support.ipswitch.com/kb/WG-20000907-DM01.htm

Before making any changes, please be sure and back up your web directory.

Thanks!

I did do this with v6, I changed the header and footer pages (where it says "WhatsUp Gold 7.0 Copyright blah blah blah) to include my email address and a link to my MRTG statistics web server, I've had a quick look into it with v7 but couldn't find where to change it.

Was this option removed in v7 as I can only change the "Title" of the maps within the web view?

Steve,

I have EXACTLY that same need, but tech support yesterday said that all you can do is make the display name of a "Container" the same as the filename of another saved map file.  Then, when you click it, the link is created between maps.

But, while this is nice to know, all I wanted to do was add a simple http link on a WhatsUp Gold page, but I'm not sure if the technical document on extensions to the template concept solves this problem or not.  I've just downloaded it & was going to pour over what extensibility there is. I don't see why the application could let you put an http link capability to just pop off the page to somewhere else, and frames would be nice too ... but I don't know if that's asking too much.
