Ok... This is your problem....

you are combining template "themes" so to speak.  All the files included
in the Alternate web set are unique to the standard set.  So for example,
you would NOT want to mix and match those.  StandardPageFooter.asp
is only for the standard set.  But, thats ok.   You can still make the changes
you want to, its just not as simple as it would be using the standard set.

Ok, within Topview.asp in your alternate set, go to the very bottom of the
page.   Directly above the </BODY> tag add this line of code:
<%include% StandardPageFooter.asp>

That will tell the Whatsup Gold web server to include that template into topview.asp.
Make sure you have StandardPageFooter.asp in your Alternate directory now.
I really recommend that you read the first few pages of the Web Template Reference
if you are planning on using the Alternate Web Set.  As new versions of WhatsUp Gold
are released and bugs are fixed, as well as new features added, they are all added to the
standard set.  The alternate set has been distributed as an example of how you can
customize your web system.  That being said, the alternate set is still pretty :-)

Ok....  have fun with your templates

Thanks Brian ... but, for a quick test, with Notepad,I just added:

<A href="http://www.cyberstruction.com/">Cyberstruction Enterprises, Inc. </A>
Cyberstruction Enterprises, Inc.

to  both StandardPageFooter.asp  and MainPageSuffix.asp

... but upon refresh (even close & open) of IE, neither shows up.

I am using the Alternate1 templates, and the files were copied into the \Whatsup\Web folder as the directions said.

What might I be doing wrongly?

Ok...  in v7 dramatic work was done to allow the customization of the web system using web templates.  If you would like to add a custom links to you web page at the bottom of your web page, it is relatively
easy.  The file StandardPageFooter.asp  was separated from the rest of the logic to allow easy additions.  If you open this, you will notice that this is where the information concerning the version of WhatsUp Gold and time is displayed.    Just add to the beginning of it " <a href="MyLink.html" > This is my special link </a>  and then it should appear at the bottom of every page.  If you would just like it to appear on the first page, then edit MainPageSuffix.asp.  There is an alternate version of the web templates that are available to demonstrate some of the capabilities of the web template system.  The alternate set uses Javascript and is quite "pretty".  You could create your own set to use frames if you like.  There is a very thorough document that describes the behavior of every tag available within WhatsUp Gold.

Feel free to post anymore questions about how to use the tags on the forum :-)

Steve,

I have EXACTLY that same need, but tech support yesterday said that all you can do is make the display name of a "Container" the same as the filename of another saved map file.  Then, when you click it, the link is created between maps.

But, while this is nice to know, all I wanted to do was add a simple http link on a WhatsUp Gold page, but I'm not sure if the technical document on extensions to the template concept solves this problem or not.  I've just downloaded it & was going to pour over what extensibility there is. I don't see why the application could let you put an http link capability to just pop off the page to somewhere else, and frames would be nice too ... but I don't know if that's asking too much.
