On our systems the squid proxy uses port 9119, so I created a custom service
for TCP 9119 and when 9119 isn't there, it reports as down. If all you are
checking is the proxy, then this is easy. The problem is when you are
trying to test the status of a device on the other side of a proxy, because
the proxy accepts your connection, and starts its own communication to the
device.

What would be the best way to setup a service monitor on a machine that is
running as a squid proxy...

I need to make sure that the proxy is running.

I have not found a way to do an http proxy request using whats up yet.?

Thanx

Cris
