You can send alerts to your phone via SMS using the email alert function on
WUG. If you do not want to rely on your email server, you can use the WUG
server as the SMTP server using an OS such as 2000Server or some third party
SMTP product.

To find out which address to send your message to simply send yourself an
email message and use the information in the from field. Several issues can
prevent this from being a simple task namely, if the from address does not
reflect any information about your phone.

If you need information about setting up the former, email me directly and I
will send you a screen shot of the setup.

There is also SMS software out there that you could configure and run as a
program alert and send parameters to it.

Some providers may have a dial in SMS terminal.

Of course if your internet connection is down

Is SMS any different than sending an email to vtext.com for a verizon phone?
Or is that SMS for verizon phones?

Thanks,jb

I use it but I had to help my local Cellular service get setup to do it :-(
Now they love SMS and are charging for it.

Their switch had a TCP/IP Port that would accept SMS, so we setup a Linux
box to take email and convert it and send it to the SMS port on the cell sw.
