get the MIBs for your router/switch/whatever and pull the bits per second
from the interface while you  do a huge file transfer from one end to the
other.  Or use the graphing ability in WUG to track the bits per second.  I
have been doing this a couple of weeks and it is kind of cool to see that I
am really getting 500Kbits on a 512Kbit line.
