Subject: [WhatsUp Forum] Incorrect Log Entries - Logic Problem?

Now this one looks like fun....

This weekend we had a UPS go down for around 45min.

Looking at the device detail for the device on the day of the outage, WUG
reports

Log Extract

20030215 233334 UP up020101.gsu.edu 131.96.130.111 missed 2
20030215 224616 DOWN up020101.gsu.edu 131.96.130.111 Timed Out

Notice that the downtime time appears correct, approx 47min...but the log
claims the device missed only 2 polls...

The map on which this device is located has the following related settings:

Poll Frequency = 60 Seconds
Default Timeout = 5 Seconds

The device itself has the following related settings:

Poll Frequency = 5 (checked every n polls)
Poll Timeout = 5 Seconds

>From this information it is my understanding that the Map is polled once
every 60 seconds. The Poll frequency on the device, will cause the device
to be polled every 5 of the map polls or every 5 min.

Next I checked the Outage report, this mirrors the timestamps, but again,
does not assist in explaining why the log detail reports only 2 missed
polls.

Device Outages
(days:hours:minutes)

up020101.gsu.edu
  Device Downtime 1 47

Has anyone seen similar behavior? Any ideas whats going on here? Thanks.
