Hello Andy! The following Knowledge Base article details which files you may want to move across to the new installation: http://support.ipswitch.com/kb/WG-19990817-DM01.htm
You should be able to do a clean install of V.8, then move your backed up files into the WUG root directory. WUG should pick up on the files that you moved in and use them normally. I've got a few maps with about 50 devices on each, some SMS pager and email alarms, SNMP traps, and a couple of daily reports. Is there a FAQ on upgrades up this type, i.e. moving machine AND version, or any tips and caveats anyone has? Oh, and will I be able to do a straight install of V* or so I have to go 5.01 then 8 on the new machine? I'd rather dp a "clean" v8 straight out of the box as it were, rather than patch an older version. Many thanks for any advice, Andy.
