I also had requested a similar feature long ago.   For instance if there are
several (all IP unrelated and only dependant on power) servers that go down
(say a breaker trips in a rack) - these servers are going to fail in the
polls.

At the time the alerting engine goes to fire off an alert, why couldn't that
alert 'include' the other devices that are not responding at that moment AND
are queued for common alert destinations as well.   I realize this could
become a complicated process for the alerting engine to figure out what
alert has gone where, especially if you have a complicated alerting schema,
but it seems senseless to fire off one alert for each of the items going
down.  You can rack-up $$ charges pretty high in the case of email -> cell
phone.  :(
