Any device will cause What's Up Gold to lock up. I have never let it sit
longer than about 5 minutes before ending it in task manager. We are
running it on a Win2k server service Pack 3.
I will look at our log file sizes to see if that is the problem.

Matt,

What exactly does "locking up" mean? Does WhatsUp Gold have to be closed
via Task Manager or does it recover (as reported by James Amann)?

What OS are you using? For what it's worth, the standard Edit Control
behaves differently on Windows 98 than it does on Windows NT, etc.

Do all devices cause the lock-up problem or just specific ones?

How big are your EV*.TAB Event logs? The Quickstatus log view extracts
data (for the device in context) from all of your event logs. If there is
no archiving occuring then the total size will build up over time.

What happens if you move EV files out of the log directory, one by one or
"a bunch" at a time? Doing this can also help determine whether the
problem is due to a specific file or is due to arbitrary files that just
happen to be too large in toto.

Has anyone experienced What's Up Gold locking up when you right click a
device choose quick status and then try to show the log.
As soon as I select the log What's Up Gold immediately stops responding and
won't recover. I am running Ver. 8.0
I never had this happen in ver 7.

Thanks,
Matt
