Windows Server 2003 installs in a locked down state.
Make sure the SMTP service is enabled and started.
Also, check the URLScan log to see if something is being blocked. Windows Server 2003 has URLScan installed by default and enabled with default settings.
If this is on a DC, you also need to check permissions, as again Windows Server 2003 DC automatically applies the DC security template.

Friday 5/30, I had WhatsUp! Gold 8.0 running on a Windows 2000 Advanced Server. I backed up the all of the files under C:\Program Files\WhatsUp then installed Windows Server 2003. I installed WhatsUp! Gold 8.0 onto the new server, then copied all of the files under C:\Program Files\WhatsUp back onto the server. After that was complete, I upgraded WhatsUp! Gold to 8.01. Since then I have a few issues. Most importantly, all of my smtp (email/epage) alerts are no longer working. The numeric (beeper) alerts are working. Also, now when a user views WhatsUp through the web interface (remotely) all of the icons and images (lines, clouds, etc) are black. End users depend on the maps that I create and this needs to be resolved. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated! Jay Auger [EMAIL PROTECTED] Network Engineer UMASS Medical School |
