Thats true. I already had webadmin configured to alert, But It would have
been nice to have one more monitor service up'n running.

Your best bet might be to use the snmp capabilities within JetAdmin for
alerting. As for the monitoring, WhatsUp will monitor an OID for a value
and alert you based on how you set the service up.

Subject: [WhatsUp Forum] A bit off-topic.. Snmp on Laserjet 4000 (snmp for
noobs)

Hi!

Sorry for this off-topic subject. But if this forum cant answer my question
then I think none can.

I have lots of HP Laserjet 4000N that I want to snmp-watch in WUG. Rather
new to the world of SNMP I know that there are two ways of getting info from
WUG.
A) WYG check a SNMP value and alert if it dont match.
B) The printer send a trap when something happens and WUG is set to action
of the triggers.

I have set the communityname, setup SNMP on the wug-server and also
activated snmp in wug and on the device on the map. And also imported
laserjet Mib's.

The problem is that I cant find where on the printer (laserjet 4000N) to set
trap destination. I have serached for this entry with telnet, web-instarface
and also HP Web jetadmin, but I cant find anywhere to set this value. Does
anyone know how to do?

Also, has anyone any hints on how to best implement a SNMP monitoring on
Laserjet printers?
