There are a number of ways you can do this. It really depends on how simple or complex you want to get.
* You can just monitor specific individual services * You can go the multiple device route and put exceptions on it there really are a number of ways - - what do YOU want to do? Really For Instance Take my email server for example. I have three devices for it - - Device A is monitored during business hours monitoring NIC Response, SNMP, SMTP, WWWSvc (OWA),TIME Device B is monitored after hours monitoring just NIC, SMTP and WW3Svc Device C is set up to send me a page if it is down for more than 45 minutes now matter what time and all that monitors is NIC Response/Interface -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Finbom Magnus Sent: Wednesday, October 29, 2003 10:14 AM To: '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' Subject: [WhatsUp Forum] Exkluding some alerts? Hello! I have some servers with several monitored services. Some critical and some not so critical. And I have two alerts , one sms and one email, on this server. Now I want to configure so that alerts to sms only are sent when a critical service is down. And I dont want to have an sms when the not-critical service goes down. Anyone with a good idea on how to fix this? The only thing I can find out is to have two devices on the map for this server, (maybe one on a separate map).
