Hi all, I am evaling 8.03 and thinking of upgrading from 7.0. I am
interested in getting event notifications for SNMP traps. I have a
server setup using evntwin to send traps to WUG and it is working, I see
the traps hitting in the SNMP trap log such as:
20031121 180126 SNMP 10.1.10.42 Trap(NTEventTrap) org.9999.1.0="Counter:
\\ATLMONITOR\Processor(_Total)\% Processor Time has tripped its alert
threshold. The counter value of 8.75 is over the limit value of 0. "
org.9999.2.0=Unknown org.9999.3.0=ATLMONITOR org.9999.4.0=4
org.9999.5.0=0 org.9999.6.0="\\ATLMONITOR\Processor(_Total)\% Processor
Time" org.9999.7.0=8.75 org.9999.8.0=over org.9999.9.0=0 Addr:127.0.0.1
Int:6 Int:1073743855 Tick:00:38:05
I have also created a corresponding event for the same trap value, and
set up alerts on the device.
When I look at the device view, I see the SNMP traps hitting (every 5
seconds in my test environment!). But I never get notifications...
When I look at the debug log, I see my map polls, and notifications
about map polls, but I never see SNMP traps hitting, or notifications
about SNMP traps in the debug log...
What can I do to get this going! Is there some trick to it? What I
would like is to not poll snmp, but fire alerts based on evntwin.exe
generated traps. I may poll the generic snmp service to make sure it is
up as well. But getting detailed info out of NT is my goal, so using
evntwin.exe seems to be the way to go.
Thanks,
Brian Politis
