You may want to look at using Blat as a notification.  You could run a batch file to dump your traceroute to a file and send the file using the blat program.

Paul you havent responded but here is what you might be looking for:

If you know how to get the trace route info into the info box for the device in question after the trace route is complete, you can then include the device info box variable in the alert message.

You will probably have to do this via the ASP included in Whats Up Gold.  This would send that info in the Whats Up Gold email.

Again, I am willing to help with this.  The key for me is what method are you using to trigger the trace route?

Thanks, Anthony,  but what I was looking for was a way to have the traceroute output INCLUDED on the WUG email, not on a separate email.   I can do traceroute emails using Perl on a separate box, but what we need is an all-inclusive email, so to speak.  Can Rebol add the traceroute output to the WUG email?

Have you heard of Rebol?

It's a very powerful, yet small programming, ios, and scripting language, < 700kB, that will allow this.

Once you get it, I can send you a sample script.  The script will be run by using a program alert.

Also, you may be able to do it yourself with a little hint:  Pipe the traceroute output to a file.  Rebol then can read the file and send the contents to an email address in text form or attachment.  It is easier to send the text.  You do not need an outside smtp server, Rebol has its own.

Hi folks!  I was curious if anyone had tried to add output from other scripts onto the Alert Emails.   We'd like to be able to execute a traceroute when a device is down (to troubleshoot routing issues), and have the output be pasted onto the Alert Email that WU sends out.   I'm running WUG 8. Has anyone had any success in doing this?  How can I go about it?  is it possible?    Thanks so much for pointing me in the right direction.

Paul
