I am monitoring my (MetaIP) DNS/DHCP server using whatsup's SNMP threshold plugin. I then check to see if I have any leases active, if DHCP is up and active I get a SNMP return value of greater than 1 (actual number of leased that are active) if it's down I get a 0.
I would imagine other brands of DHCP servers have similar SNMP MIB's.
Good luck,
Alan

[WhatsUp Forum] DHCP monitoring ?

Hello,

I would like to monitor a DHCP server (simulate a DHCP request and wait for the DHCP Ack) and I suppose the best way to do this is to use the "monitor TCP/IP service"...

Is there someone on the mailing-list who had implemented such a kind of monitoring ?

Best regards,
Yves Beckers.
