My best option on getting SNMP values (couldn't make it work with WUG)
was to use SNMX scripting to grab the SNMP value (such as server room
temp) and post it that way.

As far as custom messages, I don't know if this is what you're looking
for, but I made it so the 'notes' field is directly editable for status
reports. When a server is down, the notes field shows up on the main
page next to the server that's down with a report such as "Server down
for maintenance until 14:30 4/8/04" or "Problem Acknoledged by user
jdoe, ETA 2hrs fix". And so on. Mainly for use by our NOC to easily
report status to other NOC crew that might come on a different shift
while a server is still down. That way they don't have to flip through
trouble tickets from the last 12hours to see why things are down or
whatever...

hope that helps!

I have WUG 8.03 Release 2003.11.03 on W2k SP4

Does anyone know of a way to put custom messages inside of a device
object, say in the info 1 or 2 area? The problem I am facing is with
SNMP traps. For normal SMTP notifications, I have something like %n
(%a)
%Z has been %u since %t %d, which tells me the server name, address,
service and status. For SNMP traps, I want different info, but I
don't
want to have to setup separate SMTP notifications for each person, for
each SNMP trap. I would rather be able to create a generic SMTP
notification of something like %1 , and on each device, put in a
custom
message. This may seem unnecessary, but if you are pulling SNMP info
off
5 devices, and then have to send it to 10 people per device, that is a
lot of SMTP mail to set up. I hope I was clear on this, reading over
it
again it seems a bit rambled, but I think you will get the picture.

PS, If you can put variables into the info areas, what is the syntax,
when I tried I just got an email saying "(hhmsSensorName) temp is
(hhmsSensorStatus)" instead of "ServerRoom temp is 72".

Thanks,
