I have WUG 8.03 Release 2003.11.03 on W2k SP4
Does anyone know of a way to put custom messages inside of a device object, say in the info 1 or 2 area? The problem I am facing is with SNMP traps. For normal SMTP notifications, I have something like %n (%a) %Z has been %u since %t %d, which tells me the server name, address, service and status. For SNMP traps, I want different info, but I don't want to have to setup separate SMTP notifications for each person, for each SNMP trap. I would rather be able to create a generic SMTP notification of something like %1 , and on each device, put in a custom message. This may seem unnecessary, but if you are pulling SNMP info off 5 devices, and then have to send it to 10 people per device, that is a lot of SMTP mail to set up. I hope I was clear on this, reading over it again it seems a bit rambled, but I think you will get the picture. PS, If you can put variables into the info areas, what is the syntax, when I tried I just got an email saying "(hhmsSensorName) temp is (hhmsSensorStatus)" instead of "ServerRoom temp is 72".
Thanks,
