I've been wanting this for a while as well. I've kinda faked groups
though with a new set of templates I've made that makes user admin MUCH
easier. By creating master users (groups) such as networking,
applications, server team, etc... and and assigning their maps, I can
create users and assign them a "group" per-say by copying the map config
from the master user or group. Then add a little checkbox for
administrator, and that will assign write/add/delete perms to the maps
they have access to. Works very well for us. I can send you some of
the templates if you like...

PS By the way, I just ordered new digital cable and internet service
from Cox, any chance you could click one of your magic buttons up there
and up my bandwidth to say DS3 speeds, about 30 static ip's and all the
movie and pay-per-view channels and I'll send you a completely
redesigned web interface that's MUCH easier to look at than the stock
version? *wink wink*

Hi,
We have been running WUG in a terminal server session in Windows 2K for
over 2 years now. This does several things for us.

Allows remote administration of the application without resorting to
the web interface <--yuk!.
Allows the server console to be secured by not having a logged in
user.

On another note, I would love to see Ipswitch do a major overhaul of
the WUG user administration. There is much room for improvement in that
area such as User groups, "copy user" option, etc..

Subject: [WhatsUp Forum] Running What's Up Gold as a service

I would like to know what everyone's opinion is on running What's Up
Gold as a service or as a window app? I seem to have better luck running
it as a window app. Faster web response, easier to edit the maps, and
several of my monitors work correctly, but I don't like leaving my
server logged in.
