Subject: RE: [WhatsUp Forum] Forum vs mailing list

I like the mailing list best. I can read it off line. Most of the time I
read them on my handheld and a forum would not let me do that. I can
understand some of the issues with a mailing list. I use filters/rules to
move the incoming mail to a folder. A private or public folder could help
get around the mail box size issue. But then I have a lot of WUG mails
saved and that only takes 600K. How small is your inbox?

This mailing list does have a good search feature.
http://www.mail-archive.com/whatsup_forum%40list.ipswitch.com/ The link is
at the bottom of every email. You can search and view by thread. The only
thing you can't do is to not send to the list. But then if you wanted you
could use the archive for all of your viewing. Signup for the daily digest
and set a rule to delete it when it comes in. That way you are still on the
list so you can still email to it. This would not take any inbox space.

It would be nice to have more advanced search features to help narrow down
the returned items. Such as date range, from, subject, "and", "not", "or".
But it is better then most lists I'm on.

If every decides that they don't want a mail list but a forum instead,
please have a way to get every post emailed.

Lets not change the product just to get a feature we already have.

Just my 2 cents.
