Not every new WUG user or admin will want to be on the list. Plus sets up a categorizable knowledge base for commonly answered questions. You could probably embed the mailing list archives in a section of the forum so they can be searchable by the better search features of the majority of the forum software out there nowadays. A forum can be better managed. It is easy to search & you do not have to keep a folder with 10,000 emails in it. On top of that you would not have to read the out of office replies Chris Bell Network Monitoring Supervisor "Les Keith" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent by: [EMAIL PROTECTED] 10/06/2004 08:57 Please respond to WhatsUp_Forum To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> cc: Subject: RE: [WhatsUp Forum] Forum vs mailing list HI, I like the mail model RGDS From: Van K. Jones [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 09 June 2004 06:32 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [WhatsUp Forum] Forum vs mailing list Has Ipswitch ever considered going to a forum based support model instead of a mailing list based model? A lot of good information passes through the list, but I am inundated with mail every day and am constantly having to delete mail to stay within my quota at work and I deal with support of many companies just like the rest of you. I prefer to participate in forums where I can go to the messages, follow threads, search for solutions, etc. I may be the lone ranger here, but I was curious about how others on the list feel about this.
