Title: [WhatsUp Forum] User Stories on Link Lines - research request

I’m not sure how the link lines work; can they be useful to monitor servers?

Yes, I use link lines and it works great!  I monitor all the way to the far end device if it talks snmp.  And because you can customize the alerts, you can identify the downstream component(s) that were affected.  imho, showing the real time status of the link is what put WUG in the same class as OpenView or Tivoli without the 6 figure price tag.

Hey All,

Thankyou for your user stories so far... Here's another.

I'm interested in gathering end user stories on how you are using link
lines (Map View Edit Mode: Right click on a device | Link To...  Also
seen in "Edit | Properties | Display | Display unconnected link lines as
stubs").  What is the basic value you gain from this feature?  Are you
using it beyond interfaces on routers and switches?

Feel free to respond to the list if you would like others to view and
comment or feel free to just respond directly to me.
