What exactly do you mean by the "device down scroller"? We already have a logged feature request for Quickstatus to be able to display values from components like SNMPMon. Using your example, I extended this to include info from events.
I think it would be necessary to use % variables like in notifications. One would not want the whole trap displayed. Just the interesting varbind.
