There are a couple of things that can go wrong when you are querying SNMP values.

1) Incorrect Community name. When starting SNMPView you enter IP/hostname and
community and press "OK". If you see a single grey icon in the resulting dialog then
you have used the incorrect community name.. or specified a device that does not have
SNMP running. If you see additional icons (one per interface) then you know that you
entered a valid community name.

2) When you then right-click on one of the icons and select "View MIB" you will be
taken to a view of that Interface. Are you seeing info in the right panel at this
stage? You should be... it's all basic MIB info that is offered up by any SNMP
device, no matter whether it's a Cisco router or a PC running SNMP on Windows.

3) YOu can then browse through your "MIB Groups" in the left panel. The tree is based
on MIB.TXT. If a MIB is not compiled then it won't be displayed and you cannot browse
to it. But the reverse is not necessarily true. You can browse to Lotus in
iso.org.dod.internet.private.enterprises, but if the right panel is blank then it
indicates that the MIB is not supported on the target device.

You can double-check this. If you know a specific Lotus OID that you are interested
in then try setting up a monitor in SNMPMon. If my hypothesis is correct then the WUG
debug log will tell you the error that occurs.. "No such name". The target device
accepted the query but cannot respond properly because the OID is not valid.

I won't help you but add a new information...

I'm having a serious problems with MIB's... for example Lotus Notes... I
extracted MIB with success, but when I explore contents of MIB, by View
MIB... the right panel (Contents of MIB) stay null... without any value...

Anybody have any idea???

Assunto: [WhatsUp Forum] mib compilation is not working properly... any
ideas?

We are currently running Whatsup8.03HF1, and are having issues compiling
mibs. We ran mibextra on a particular mib file, and get mib file proceessed
succesffully(no failiures). But the "added" field stays at 0 and there no
new definitions added to either Mib.txt, or Traps.txt or even to defs.txt.

My vendor compilied mibs on his server, and whatsup was able to compile
these properly.

At this point I am trying to compile new mibs, from any vendor, and am not
having any success.

Any ideas on how I can troubleshoot this issue?

Thanks
