The most basic measure of errors is given by ifInErrors (1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.14) and IfOutErrors (1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.20). There will be Cisco-specific OIDs that may be more appropriate, but these ones will work on any SNMP device.
Just remember to specify the OID with an instance number so that you are actually querying a specific interface on your device. As the syntax of these OIDs is Counter32 you are looking at values which will increase over time until they eventually wrap around. What is of interest is not the absolute values of the OIDs but how they change over time. Thus, set up monitors in SNMPMon with "Check it for" set to "Rate of Change in Value". I think the best way using whatsup gold would be using snmp, but how would I go about this? Thanks for any help in advance.
