Actually, the end goal is to monitor a sybase server, and step 1. is to
telnet to a unix server, then step2 is to telnet to the sybase server,
step3. issue some command and expect a consistant result.
This is to insure that the database server is up and running. I am not sure
if there is any other way to checkup on Sybase server.
Thanks,
Harry

Have tried using the default pre-defined TELNET check? If not, try using
that first before defining anything custom and see if it works for what
you are trying to do (it works for everything here that I've tested it
with, including being asked by some server operators to stop TELNET
monitoring during T-Shooting since it floods the server console log
files with login connections).

So here I am scripting my way throught WUG, and come across this small
issue. We are trying to monitor telnet daemon on a unix server, and
the
best way to do this is by telneting to the server.
So I created a custom service, for tcp/ip port 23 and added the
following
lines:
Send=userid/n
Expect=~password:
and this does not work. It works for routers, etc, but not for any of
my
unix servers. Any ideas???
Thanks,
-Harry
P.S. for the people with WUG crashing with C++ errors, I fixed mine by
increasing polling timeout from 1min to 2min.
