Pete,

Nice save... Personally, I'm not going to make any judgements one way
or the other as I've seen too many demos of different products that
behave entirely different than the demo'd versions (not just IPSwitch's
stuff) and until I try it out, I'll ho9ld my comments. FWIW, it's good
to see I can run them both on the same box without problems (how's the
WEB interface between the two versions work out- do we need to specify
different ports to use to access the two versions so so I can
transparently switch them when the time is rigth and the users won't
notice anything different in the way they access it until they get into
the new WEB interface??). I'm also really looking forward to not having
to shut down the WEB interface to run the console piece to fix the
layout of maps with newly discovered devices!

Interesting comments,

WhatsUp Professional is fast as lightning, handles more devices, is
easier to
use and easier to extend than WhatsUp Gold. The Console UI and web
interface
are completely rewritten and not only very attractive, but very fast.

The new explorer based UI metaphor lets you create groups and populate
them
with whatever devices you wish, and then view them either as a map,
list or
report. It's *really* slick.

You can run WhatsUp Professional and WhatsUp Gold side by side on a
single
box. WhatsUp Professional is much more memory and processor efficient
than
WhatsUp Gold and won't get in the way. There's no need to set up a
test box
if you don't want to--the product is stable and well tested.

You guys can make up your own minds as to when you move over, but I
believe
that once you get your hands on this product your going to love it and
put it
to work immediately.

Cheers!

Hi, Ive seen WUG Pro demoed and its nice but has some issues:

The interface is all web Im told and what I saw displayed that but it
is dog
slow when accessing some functions like reporting.

There are some new really nice reports but forget the existing reports
you
are used to today, gone from what I can tell. The reports in WUGP
appear
to me centered more on individual devices, correct me if Im wrong
anyone.

Also if you like the cstatrpt tool its functionality is gone also.

Untill they bring back the ability to run reports for set timeframes
for
different groupings of devices IE All routers or all devices at
location X as
you can do with the cstatrpt tool Im sticking with WUG for now.

Dont rush and install it on your production box, set up a test box
first.

Just my two cents...
