Hey Mark,

OK, let me re-phrase this... they didn't fix some thing, they actually
broke something dealing with UP DEPENDANCIES. What's happening, is that
even when a service down is propagated up to a parent object, any other
objects that have an UP DEPENDANCY set to the same parent object, take
on the "SERVICE DOWN" appearance in the graphical map (i.e. it
propagates down to all of the other items connected to it when the UP
DEPENDENCY is set on the child object even though nothing is really
down). I'll be calling voice support on this shortly, but thought others
may have seen the same type of behavior but didn't know what it was.

For reference:
Win2K system with SP4, Dell Optiplex GX110 (766Mhz, 384MB RAM), WUG
v8.0 upgraded to v8.04HF1 using one patch at a time over the course of
last year as they were released. No unexpected issues prior to these
last two patches (v8.04 and v8.04HF1).

Hey Mark,

Looks like they also fixed something with dependencies between subnet
icons and actual device icons in one of these last two patches as well
(undocumented??)... I about freaked out when everything in the top
level
map showed as "DOWN" when the subnet icon for the child maps
propagated
a "DOWN" status into each parent map and the patches changed the way
the
dependancy worked (I didn't realize I had the dependency set up on it
so
when it actually worked as it should have, I didn't know what had
happened and thought something had seriously gone wrong with our
network
only to find out it was a wild goose chase). Finally ended up fixing
the
issue by removing the dependency between the two objects and we're
good
to go now, but it sure caught me by surprise when it happened... Also
glad to see that the updates are cumulative (with the exception of Hot
Fixes issued after it)...

v8.04 is cumulative.

v8.04 rolls up everything from v8.0 through to v8.03 HF2 and takes it
to v8.04.

v8.04 HF1 will only apply if v8.04 is already installed.

For what it's worth, v8.04 HF1 performs a checksum - it cannot be
accidentally applied to anything earlier than v8.04.

Are these WUG patches/fixes Cumulative? I mean, My existing WUG is WUG
8.03HF1.
After the release of WUG 8.03 Hotfix 1, IPSwitch had released 8.03
Hotfix 2.
Now, I am planning to install 8.04 Patch. To do this Do I need to
install 8.03 Hotfix 2 OR Can I directly install 8.04 Patch and Fix for
this patch.....

Conclusion:
I have installed WUG 8.0. If I install 8.04 Patch 8.04 and Patch
Hotfix
1, will these two fix all the problems rectified in 8.01 to 8.03?

Pls advice me...

Thanks in advance,
Bobby VR Kumar.
