Thanks for the info but I have checked all of these..

device properties - EVENTS
---->This has both the particular snmp alert (warmstart) and Any...

device properties - ALERTS...........on the edit notification page, check
under the ON EVENT option to be sure your specific SNMP trap is either
checked or covered under the "any" radio button
---->This has the Any event selected...

The snmp log shows the trap
20050214 085155 SNMP (IP) Trap(warmStart) Addr:(IP) Int:1 Int:0 Tick:"5
days 16:32:50

The activity logs shows the trap
20050214 085155 EVENT SNMP Trap/Unsolicited (IP) Trap(warmStart) addr:(IP)
Int:1 Int:0 Tick:"5 days 16:32:50"

Note: I cleaned the IP's out of the above......

places to check, just off the top of my head:

device properties - EVENTS
device properties - ALERTS...........on the edit notification page, check
under the ON EVENT option to be sure your specific SNMP trap is either
checked or covered under the "any" radio button

Running WUG 8.04...

I am having problems getting an event to fire when an snmp trap is received.
The trap shows up in the snmp trap log and the activity log and but no event
is fired. What am I missing? All the other events fire fine.
