Hi All,

There have been personnel changes that can be attributed to the lack of
SP1a release announcement to this forum. I will let the new folks know
our past practices. Sorry for that it was unintentional.

Robert,

I intend to, however the problem I have with this while dual support
issue is that unless I and everyone else here can see what is being
posted in the WEB forums thru the e-mail list and vise-versa, then
you've essentially isolated everything into two separate support methods
and doubled the workload we as users must do as we must monitor two
separate resources instead of one- as evidence to that claim, I'd like
to point out the recent release of WUP2K5Pro SP1a upgrade, which for
unknown reasons at this time, wasn't announced in this list (if I hadn't
have taken the extra time which I really didn't have to spare right now,
to go look up a possible release date on the WEB site only to discover
it had already been released and that there was a SQL Injection
Vulnerability which wasn't discussed in this list, listed as one of the
fixes, I might still be waiting for news of it's release and not known
about the vulnerability at all...)??? Additionally, I've posted several
issues in this support forum to IPSwitch and have yet to see a response
(public or private) to any of them, so as an end user, I can only assume
that they were ignored because they weren't seen by support...

Do you see the paradox IPSwitch has created now with the separation of
the support methods? The current system is broken and needs to be made
useful again for everyone by mirroring the messages between the two
support methods, even if our e-mail messages have to be sorted thru
one-by-one by IPSwitch Support to weed out the undesirable postings
prior to releasing them into the WEB forum... Please pass this comments
on to those responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of both support
methods as well as your management; they need to hear what their product
buyers are saying and act upon it appropriately.

I may be mistaken, but I think when we put out the option of the
either/or, more people chose the web based forum. I know we didn't have
a meeting to decide which one to push over the other. ;)

If you guys want to continue using the mailing list over the forum, do
it. I'm sure there are people still out there listening.

Besides doesn't Ipswitch sell a list server. You would think they would
want to use their own product. Maybe their product is no good.

Same here. I don't have time for Web based forums. Advanced users have
no problem with message filtering. The few 'Out of office replies' I get
are easy to skip. Not a valid reason.

I agree completely with all of the comments. It appears that IpSwitch
has forgotten the people who have supported their product for so long.
Behaviour like this is making competing products look sweeter all the
time.

What's really bad is they have released a new version of the software on
6/21 (WUP2k5 SP1a) and didn't make it known via this method for those of
us who prefer this type of communications to WEB based forums. Anyway, I
discovered the new released version notice when I visited their WEB site
to do some research on when the next release was supposed to be due out,
as I've been out of the loop for the last couple of months due to
vacations and off-site training requirements which has my e-mail a bit
backed up at the moment (like you, I'm ever so thankful for e-mail
auto-rule processing as it keeps me somewhat organized in how I tackle
e-mail!). BTW, did you know WUP2KSP1 had an SQL Injection Vulnerability
in it? I didn't until I started going thru the release notes for SP1a to
see if this version would fix any of the numerous issues I had with the
product since it was released...

Here's the link to WUP2K support page where they have a link to the new
release in case you hadn't heard about it yet:

http://www.ipswitch.com/support/whatsup_professional/index.asp

God help those of us just tying to survive doing our jobs to the best of
our ability, if this is the way IPSwitch is going to operate it's online
support from here out - Good luck to you on the new release.

Ditto. I haven't even visited the web forum. I can easily filter out
any WhatsUp out-of-office replies. Takes a minute to create a rule in
Notes. Oh, well......

Well, if this doesn't suck...not to mention it seems a bit draconian
that they exclude the e-mail list recipients from automated forum
posting delivery and instead make us waste our valuable time wading thru
web based forum messages while waiting on the view to refresh... all in
the name of eliminating un-wanted e-mail postings ("out of office
replies").

FWIW, I rely almost exclusively on e-mail lists for those topics I wish
to keep abreast of as I can eliminate 90% of what I don't care and save
those message I do care about because they pertain to me and our
specific environment. I don't have time for WEB based browsing of
support forums. I fail to grasp why IPSwitch isn't mirroring the WEB
forum messages onto the What's Up Support List...<<??>>

IP Switch, care to comment?
