Title: Dial out with text to speech alerting
Hi,

Another option to think about, BekArts Dialup Summary for WUG. ( See http://bekarts.com then click on Software > Stuff for WUG ) This only requires a machine with a voice modem and a network card that can access your WUG machine. It's the opposite of what you're looking for, but still may help?

We are currently working on a new version that works with WUP also.

See what you think anyway.

Richard.

There are starter kits for MS Speech Server that are under 1k.  The license for the Standard version will cost you a few grand.

What you need is an alerting system that will be able to manage an IVR card.

We are currently looking for a similar solution and in our research have decided on the Emergin Communication Gateway with IVR support. http://www.emergin.com/. The application is very robust and may be overkill for your needs, but there plenty of features you can leverage to overcome the price. I’m not sure if it will fit in your price range, though I would call and check.

Good Luck,

/kush

Subject: [WhatsUp Forum] Dial out with text to speech alerting

All,

I am looking for a better way to do alerting for hours when our group is not up and scanning every email. We are looking to use some kind of output from What's up Gold to go to some software or appliance that will dial out and call a specific number. Once the call is established, the alert out put would be converted from text to speech and be read.

We are a fairly small shop so we don't want to invest a whole lot. I was hoping to implement something for no more than $2.5k. I would prefer an internally managed solution, but I am open to externally hosted recommendations in case this doesn't pan out.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Best Regards,

Jim Cochrane
